Paint Production Supervisor

SUMMARY

The function of the Production Supervisor is to supervise manufacturing of parts and assembly processes on floor, schedule work and troubleshoot any abnormalities, builds quality parts at least cost. The Supervisor also communicates effectively for overall safety and morale of team members and the basic understanding of producing quality parts that meet delivery requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Directs the activities of a recognized manufacturing department.
  2. Operates from a wide scope of responsibility to maintain production schedules and to ensure quality standards are adhered to by group.
  3. Plans work, makes assignments and trains new employees.
  4. Administers company policies for assigned department.
  5. Assesses and troubleshoots machine problems.
  6. Communicates with all levels of management, including Japanese staff.
  7. Presents materials/information to groups.
  8. Conducts root cause analysis of customer problems and defect reduction.
  9. Documents departmental productivity and defects, and takes corrective action when needed.
  10. Motivates employees and resolves conflict.
  11. Evaluates employees’ performance.
  12. Aids in continuous improvement processes.
  13. Oversees trials of new parts.
  14. Assists manager as necessary to accomplish all goals and missions of the department.
  15. Coaches and counsels team members on various aspects of their duties.
  16. Issues corrective action (discipline) to employees as appropriate.
  17. Maintain awareness and understand the roles and responsibilities regarding the environmental policies, management system, and objectives and targets by attending the required training. Perform all tasks in accordance with the EMS procedures and practices and minimize the impact of their activities on the environment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Production Supervisor carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Basic Knowledge of TPS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

Previous supervisory experience a plus

Manages section with special knowledge (Daily Management).

Communicate to other departments to achieve the target/Hoshin performing PDCA and problem solving method.

Responds to abnormal situation and solves problems understanding QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery).

Trains Team Leaders, Lead Operators and Team Members.

Follows company rules and policies.

Has good attendance, sets an example for team members to follow.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

3 years Team Leader experience or previous manufacturing work experience in equivalent position.

Over 70% process experience and working knowledge.

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Clear, concise written and verbal skills and problem solving skills required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of team members.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division is necessary. The ability to express numbers as a decimal, convert numbers into percentages and from percentages to whole numbers, ability to express numbers as a fraction and perform basic math operations using positive and negative numbers and as ratios or averages.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Experience using Microsoft office systems, Excel and Word

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, First Shift - 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 2nd Shift – 1:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. or 4 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. or Sunday through Thursday, Third Shift – 9:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Occasional overtime throughout the week and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
